About the Pergola Family
and their East Lake Cafe

For the past three and a half years, Peter Pergola and his family have owned and operated the East Lake Cafe in Palm Harbor, Florida, previously known as J. Macaroni’s Cafe and before that, Picasso’s Palate. During that time, the cafe has blossomed into a popular oasis, where clay top tables with umbrellas are surrounded by tropical foliage, lending itself to an island setting. This oasis is where many locals love to meet and eat (some with there pets). Much of their business consists of regulars who frequent the cafe 5 to 7 times a week.

Peter and his wife, Angela, give high praise to their dedicated staff and chef who have created some very distinctive and unique dishes. "We have been blessed with very honest, hardworking and caring individuals who adhere to the high standards of the operation. Their friendly smiles and strong customer service attributes are a great part of the cafe’s success. Many have been with us since we took over. And, some have ridden the course for 10 years," says Peter.

Breakfast is served all day and is a favorite for many. The large portions, the presentation and quality are exceptional. Lunch here is not that of  your average “sandwich shop”, (although you can request an average sandwich). There are many unique and delicious sandwich selections along with an array of bread choices. The gourmet salads offered here can not be found in any other cafe or restaurant in the area. Special dietary needs are always accommodated, as well as, substitutions.

To accompany your meal, the East Lake Cafe offers Barnie’s Coffees & Gourmet Flavors with cappuccinos, lattes, and espressos. Or, perhaps you might enjoy one of the many blends of China Mist Hot Tea. In addition, brewed iced tea, Pepsi and Budweiser products, Corona and Sutter Home wines are also available to satisfy your thirst. To finish things, a variety of specialty desserts is offered that will leave your taste buds craving for more!

Catering is one of the hidden culinary secrets of the East Lake Cafe. Private functions are catered on or off premises. Community groups, local schools and businesses can also be accommodated. Angela's culinary skills are utilized for most of the catering events. All catering is customized to your tastes, themes and preferences.

Peter was a former owner of Rocky Point Food Service for 10 years in Tampa. Prior to that he held several directorships in high profile establishments including the Museum of Natural History, the Met Museum, the Metropolitan Opera House and the United Nations. In addition, he also held management positions at Maxwell’s Plum, Tavern on the Green, Top of the Park and the Sign of the Dove Group - Yellow Fingers, Contrapunto and Arizona 206.

Peter and Angela invite you to visit their East Lake Cafe so you may experience a truly unique and friendly dining experience!
